Dreibeiniges, rundbodiges Gefäß mit tiefständigem Umbruch, konkaver Wand und auskragendem Rand. Die drei schnabelförmigen Beine besitzen schmale Öffnungen und Rasselkugeln. Das Objekt wurde beidseitig geglättet, geschlämmt, grundiert und bemalt. Grundierung und Bemalung sind partiell erodiert. Die Keramik besitzt eine weiß-gelbliche Grundfarbe, die rot, orange und schwarz-braun bemalt wurde. Auf der Außenseite der Gefäßwand befindet sich ein unterrandständiger, umlaufender Fries. Er zeigt zwei Wellenlinien, die ineinander verschlungen sind (Guilloche-Motiv). Darunter erscheint eine hochständige, umlaufende Motivreihe, die aus ineinander verzahnten Stufenelementen besteht. Oberhalb des Umbruchs verlaufen zwei horizontale, rote Bänder. Die drei gedrungenen Beine verkörpern wahrscheinlich Vogelschnäbel. Sie sind mit roten Linien verziert und besitzen eine schwarz-braune Gesichtsdarstellung. Die Beinansätze werden durch zwei rote, konzentrische Kreise markiert. Auf der Innenseite des Objekts verlaufen zwei unterrandständige, rote Bänder. An der Wand erscheinen unregelmäßige Spuren einer weiß-gelblichen Grundierung. Nach Bransford 1881: Sta. Helena ware. Nach Lothrop 1926: Nicoya polychrome ware. Symbolische Bedeutung: das Guilloche-Motiv wird häufig als zwei Schlangenleiber interpretiert, die ineinander verschlungen siind (Ferrero 1975: 405). Kulturelle Bedeutung: der Typ Papagayo Policromo steht in der Region Gran Nicoya am Anfang der polychromen Bemalung auf weiß-gelblicher Grundierung. Die Tradition dauerte bis ins Policromo Tardío (1520-1350d.C.) an. Ihre Verzierungen zeigen einen starken mesoamerikanischen Einfluß. Er manifestiert sich unter anderem in der Verdrängung von Echsen- und Fledermausthemen durch Raubkatzen- und Schlangendarstellungen. Die Keramik diente als überregionale Handelsware. Ähnliche Stufenelemente sind unter anderem aus der Gruppe Cholula Policromo (1520-1200d.C.) bekannt. (Künne 2004)
