Provenance
The provenance of this object is unclear. An old inventory number is missing. In the new inventory book, only the entry "like N. 1354" is added next to the designation "shell". It was also assigned to the Brandeis donation from the Marshall Islands. II/1354 is a shell that was used as an eating utensil/scraper. On the index card for the object from 1968, it is assigned to the 2nd Brandeis consignment from November 1901. The object is depicted on a photo that is included on the joint index card of object II/1354+1355 and shows all three objects.
It can be assumed that II/1357 belongs to the Brandeis collection, but it cannot be explicitly assigned to either of the two object lists. It may have been sent in together with II/1354 but not noted separately by the collector.
