The Linden
Museum received this object in 1913 from the Royal Natural History
Cabinet in Stuttgart. It was acquired by Augustin Krämer, director of
the Linden Museum from 1911 to 1915, in Sāmoa. There he first stayed
from 1893 to 1895 as a naval surgeon on the SMS Bussard stationed in
Apia. A second journey took him again to Sāmoa between 1897 and 1899.
