Old collection of Hugo Ficke (1840-1912), 1909
Hugo Ficke was an honorary museum director and member of the Freiburg city council. He probably acquired the mallets during his trip to Java between January and mid-February 1909. He bought most of the gamelan instruments there at markets, pawnshops and flea markets, presumably including the mallets.
