Anthropo-zoomorphe Miniatur. Die stehende Skulptur verfügte über drei Beine, die sich an einem hohlen, tonnenförmigen Körper befanden. Die Figur hat eine längliches Maul. Sie trägt Ohrschmuck und besitzt am Kopf halbkreisförmige Auflagen, die an den Schläfen ansetzen. Das Wesen beugt beide Arme und trägt einen fragmentierten Gegenstand (Brett, Sitz oder Reibtisch?) auf seinem Rücken. Am Hals erscheinen zwei kleine, gegenständige Öffnungen, die wahrscheinlich zur Aufhängung dienten. Am Rücken befindet sich eine größere, runde Öffnung. Das Objekt wurde geglättet, geschlämmt, grundiert und leicht poliert. Die Grundierung ist partiell erodiert. Zwei Beine sind vollständig fragmentiert. Am Kopf befinden sich weitere Bruchstellen. Das monochrome Objekt besitzt eine weiße Grundfarbe. Die Körperhaltung weist auf ein stehendes, anthropomorphes Wesen hin. Kopfgestaltung, Schnauze und Beine deuten dagegen echsenähnliche Attribute an. Die Skulptur trägt eine Augenmaske. Soziale Bedeutung: ähnliche Keramiken wurden als Ritualobjekt (Bransford 1881; Bonilla et al. 1987), als Anhänger oder als Gefäßpfeife (Lehmann 1913) interpretiert. Symbolische Bedeutung: im südamerikanischen Tiefland galten Kaimane als "Herr der Fische" und als "Bringer des Maniok" (Bischof 1982: 14). Nach Lehmann 1913: El Viejo-Stil. Lothrop (1926) bespricht die Keramik unter den Gruppen orange-brown ware figurines und red ware figurines. Ferrero (1975) gibt als Herkunftsort einer sehr ähnlichen Keramik die archäologische Region Atlántico Norte (Llanuras del Norte) an. Kulturelle Bedeutung: die Gruppe ist nur aus dem Süden der Region Gran Nicoya bekannt. Ihre Objekte wurden vor allem in Bestattungen dokumentiert. Die Keramik gehört zu einem Konvolut dekontextualisierter Objekte, die Lehmann im März 1908 in einem Gräberfeld bei El Viejo fand. Allein aus der Huaca A sollen 480 Objekte stammen. Sie umfassen neben Keramiken auch Beile, Reibsteine, Muscheln und “Grünsteine“. Letztere waren mit Körperbestattungen assoziiert. (Künne 2004)
