Small, spherical jug with a short, slightly protruding neck. The object has been smoothed, sanded and primed on both sides. Its exterior is painted and polished. The primer and paint are partially eroded. There are several small flakes on the body. The pottery has a brown base colour, which is painted black-brown on the outside of the vessel. The shoulder is decorated with a circumferential frieze showing diagonal bundles of lines. The motifs probably imitate textile or wickerwork. Six circumferential bands also appear on the body. The rim is decorated on both sides with a black-brown band. The inside of the neck of the vessel is primed brown. According to Lothrop 1926: Nicoya black line ware. Cultural significance: the type was documented in burials. Its mould inventory comprises only jugs. (Künne 2004)
