This woodwind instrument with a double reed is a Pakistani surnā, also known as śanāī, śurnāi. The body of the cone oboe with seven frontal tone holes and a thumb hole between the first and second tone hole is made of dark brown coloured wood, the tip and the conically widening funnel are covered with tinplate. In Pakistan, the instrument is usually played together with the barrel-shaped drum dhol at weddings or in military bands, for example.
