The rectangular apron ( maidari, jap. maetare) is sewn together from two strips of striped elm bast fabric sewn together in plain weave. The surface is embroidered with a symmetrical line pattern in warp stitch with blue cotton thread. At the sides the apron is edged with appliquéd strips of blue cotton fabric.
