Attribution - NonCommercial - ShareAlike 4.0 InternationalTripartite vessel consisting of a deep, round-bottomed bowl, a wide overhanging rim and three high, hollow legs. The bimorph legs have narrow, vertical openings and rattle beads. The object has been smoothed, slurried and primed on both sides. The primer is heavily eroded. The ceramic has an orange-red base colour. Its legs appear to depict standing fish-people bound with strings. According to Holmes 1888: Tripod Group. According to MacCurdy 1911: Fish Ware. According to Osgood 1935: Fish-Tripod-Handled Ware. According to Haberland 1976: Carbonera Aplicado. Cultural significance: the Tripod Group (Holmes 1888) is widespread as far as the Costa Rican highlands. The Ceiba Rojo Café type mainly comprises utility ceramics. It has been documented both in household contexts and in burials. (Künne 2004)
