These [are] bound together to form a raft by plant cord material, which is wound several times around the width of the raft at both ends and the cord band between the individual tubes is tied together again crosswise. [It has] eight epidermis strings. Two leaf stalks pushed transversely under the strings [serve] as bridges. On the back of the raft [are] eight string-like epidermis detachments interwoven with transverse strips of bark to form a stabilising braid. from Ulrich Wegner: Afrikanische Saiteninstrumente, Staatliche Museen Berlin - SPK, 1984 (Appendix Object Catalogue)
