Thurnwald's collection of rolls did not reach Berlin until 1922 after the war (Melk-Koch 1989). JB 1924/25:12 states: "Several hundred rolls were saved from spoilage by mould by electroplating, including the extremely valuable collection of Prof. Dr. Thurnwald from the Augusta River (New Guinea).
