The drum body is carved from wood and consists of a main section that tapers slightly towards the bottom and a clearly offset projecting foot; a serrated band is carved at the bend. The rolled edge of the leather membrane covering the upper opening is bound to a rattan ring by means of a vegetable ligature, which is placed around the body about 5 cm below the level of the membrane. Numerous wooden wedges and another rotan ring secure the tension ring.
