The clay bowl is oval and ends with a wavy rim painted with a shiny black colour. It is decorated with angular and round geometric patterns, typical Kadiweu patterns. These are notched into the clay, the notches are traced with white paint and the resulting fields are painted with the following colours: Shiny black, light ochre, reddish brown, old pink, olive green. Note: The Kadiweu use the same patterns on their clay products as for body painting; see Strauss: Sad Tropics.
