Small, round-bottomed bowl with a hollow base. The object has been smoothed on both sides, slurried, primed, painted and lightly polished. The primer and paint are partially eroded. There are several fractures on the rim and base. The ceramic has a white-yellowish base colour, which was painted red, orange and black. The inside of the shallow bowl is decorated with three zoomorphic figures that are connected to each other. At the centre of the depiction is a figure with a ribbon-shaped body and two opposing heads. It is complemented by two identical figures facing each other. Both figures have a head that is connected to a lizard-like body. All three figures appear to represent the same creature. The composition is bordered by black outer lines. A dotted line largely follows the outline of the motif. The rim of the bowl is decorated with a red band. There is another red band running around the outside of the bowl wall. The base was painted red. According to Lothrop 1926: highland polychrome ware, plumed serpent, type B. Cultural significance: this type was produced exclusively in the south of the Gran Nicoya region. It stands out due to the colour range of its decoration, a fine line and the depiction of moving figures. The pottery is mainly known from burials. Lizard-like creatures with a crest on their heads also occur in the Buenos Aires Policromo (1550-1000d.C.), Cartago Línea Roja (1550-1000d.C.), Potosí Aplicado, variedad Potosí (1350-500d.C.), Macaracas Policromo (1100-900d.C.) and Conte Policromo (900-700d.C.) groups.
