Deer pair of hand bells made of clay 鹿土鈴 (Shika Tsuchi Suzu)
A pair of deer in the shape and function of hand bells made of painted clay with rice straw decorations on their heads. Every year in December, a harvest festival - Wakamiya no matsuri - is held at the Kasuga taisha shrine in Nara. Rice straws are carried in the front row of the procession. The city of Nara is known for its tame, small shika deer, which can roam freely in the shrine's park. (Commentary by Siegmar Nahser, 2012).
