Small, bulbous jug with a domed base, retracting wall and slightly overhanging neck. Both sides of the object have been smoothened and polished. Its exterior is primed, painted and lightly polished. The primer and paint are partially eroded. There are several fractures on the neck. The pottery has a white-brownish base colour, which was painted red and black-brown on the outside of the vessel. There is an upright frieze running around the body. It shows diagonal bundles of lines and dots that probably imitate textile or wickerwork. The object is also decorated with a deep red band running all the way round. The neck of the vessel is painted red on both sides. According to Lothrop 1926: highland polychrome ware. The pottery of the Mora group was produced in the north-west of Costa Rica and traded to the Central Highlands and the Atlantic region of the country. It uses design elements (seated anthropomorphic figures with headdresses, mat motif, Kan cross) that are also known from the Maya pottery (Copador group) of the Clásico Tardío (900-600d.C.). The variant is related to the Gillén Negro sobre café claro (1350-1000d.C.) and Palmira Policromo (1350-1000d.C.) groups. (Künne 2004)
