Another important food staple for people living on the Marshall Island, alongside the fruit of the pandanus and breadfruit fruits, was a flour ground from the tubers of the arrowroot plant (tacca leontopetaloides). The tubers were grated using a coral stone (II/1407) and then dried on a rack covered with coir. The flour was kept in bags like this one as a provision on board sea voyages.
