Donated by the former mayor Otto Winterer (1846-1915), 8 February 1910
His son Wilhelm Winterer (1879-1969) acquired the drum from the Nyamwezi ethnic group in Kifum-biro in the Bukoba district on Lake Victoria in Tanzania. He was stationed there from 1907 to 1913 during the German colonial period as a lieutenant colonel in the Schutztruppe for East Africa. The exact circumstances of his acquisition are not known.
