Stirrup spout vessel; squatting man
This ceramic belongs to a group of stirrup spout vessels that depict "squatting men". All hold their arms under their shirts and have their hands on their legs. They are almost identical, only the pattern of the shirts is different. They all seem to be in a kind of trance, as the fixed gaze indicates. Presumably it is the representation of a ritual act, perhaps a fertility ritual.
