This two-handed weapon is called taiaha and was used in combat by high-ranking people. Both ends can be deployed as a weapon for stabbing, hitting or repelling an adversary. The decorated part shows a head the outstretched tongue of which forming the blade of the weapon. The band of feathers and dog hair under the carved face is called tauri kura.
