Ritual staff

The ritual staffs, called ase or ashe, are deployed as a portable altar, which is placed in the floor of an asenxo (ase-house), where deceased family members are commemorated at annual ceremonies. In front of the ritual staff, the living meet the dead, talk to them and make offerings to them.
