Male figure made of soapstone, painted red and black. The figure is flattened at the back and has a moulded gap. He is wearing a headdress and a leaf-like skirt, both of which were originally painted red. The figure is holding a bird (probably a parrot/cockatoo, see inventory book). The skin is black, remains of red paint can be seen on the mouth.
Gift from the estate (?) of Professor Friedrich Christian Müller (1834 - 1922), municipal archivist in Ulm.
The object is probably a figure from European production and thus a "colonial object of reception", which shows a stereotypical colonial depiction of a non-European, indigenous person.
