For the history of the expedition, see Fischer 1981 and Schindlbeck 2001: The expedition members recorded independently of each other at different locations. W. 1 - 16 were made by Müller-Wismar in Melanesia, W. 17 - 67 by Sarfert in Micronesia, W. 68 - 95 by Hambruch. The expedition was led by Augustin Krämer, who compiled his own collection (cf. Krämer expedition). According to correspondence, the collections were sent to Berlin for galvanisation in 1911 (FE 13). Comments and texts on the photographs are partially available.
