Round wooden panel with mosaic remnants in white and greenish stones. The round panel is divided into several circular ring-shaped zones, which have lost the mosaic except for the centre of the panel. Here, 3 white and one enclosed green ring frame a circle of whitish stones inlaid with a star ornament of 7 larger green stones. For the provenance, see IV Ca 46935, Mixteca-Puebla style: it can be assumed that this shield was completely covered with a mosaic consisting of several concentric circles. Such turquoise shields were used as wall decorations in cave niches (cf. IV Ca 46947). (V. König, 2003)
