An elongated bowl with longitudinal walls that merge with the base in a curve, almost steep transverse walls on the inside; a rectangular opening outline (type C). On each of the narrow sides [are] six diagonally burnt-in string guide perforations. Six strings. One end of the string cord [is] tied to a crosspiece behind an outer perforation, the other is wrapped around a longitudinally carved stem extension and clamped to the rim of the bowl under tension. There is a further perforation in the base and one in the back wall of the bowl. A loop of string runs through both. from Ulrich Wegner: Afrikanische Saiteninstrumente, Staatliche Museen Berlin - SPK, 1984 (Appendix Object Catalogue)
