In Turkey and neighbouring countries, zūrnā refers to a group of double-reed instruments with a funnel-shaped bell. This Orta Zūrnā has a body made of dark-coloured wood; the characteristic fork insert is made of boxwood. Decorative notches can be seen all around the tip of the fork insert and at the end of the funnel. Five mother-of-pearl inlays and rich ornaments made of brass threads adorn the seven frontal tone holes. This instrument lacks a reed holder and mouthpiece.
