After drying, a second layer of cardboard was soaked with starch and glued onto the first, followed by a third, very thin layer of white cardboard. The six cap parts and the edge strip were glued to the outside of the dried cardboard mould, and the lining, which was adapted to the shape by means of darts and incisions, was glued to the inside. Finally, the decorative ribbons were glued to the edges and over the gaps between the cap parts. They are 11 cm wide. The brocade could have come from Turkey. Wheat germ starch sticks very well and does not show through on strong fabric. Rice starch is used for tart silk fabric.
