The recordings were made during the second of the Royal Prussian Turfan Expeditions (1904 - 1905). Transcriptions of some reel recordings in Lachmann 1929a, Lecoq 1928 (prepared by R. Lachmann) and Reinhard 1939. Some song texts are published in Lecoq 1911 and 1926. Descriptions of the phonographic recordings and their effect on the listeners can be found in several of Lecoq's publications, especially in Lecoq 1926:52-56.
