The stocky, conical legs have small, round openings and rattle balls. Both sides of the object have been smoothened and slurried. Its exterior is primed, painted and lightly polished. The primer and paint are partially eroded. There are several glued fractures at the base of the legs. The pottery has a red base colour, which was painted black on the outside of the vessel. There is a broad, circumferential line below the rim. A surrounding frieze consisting of several pictorial fields appears on the wall. They show diagonal bundles of lines and broken lines. There are three vertical line fields on the floor. The legs are decorated with diagonal bundles of lines. The inside of the object remains undecorated. After Lothrop 1926: Nicoya black line ware. According to Lehmann 1913: El Viejo style. Cultural significance: the type also occurs in the Cordillera de Guanacaste and in the Atlántico Norte region. It has been documented both in burials and in household contexts. (Künne 2004)
