Large, bulbous jug with a domed base and flowing neck. Both sides of the vessel have been smoothed and polished. Its exterior is primed twice, painted and highly polished. The conical neck of the vessel is decorated with a bimorph face with applied and painted attributes. The primer and paint are partially eroded. The restored object has several broken and missing parts. The outside of the object was primed twice. It shows a red-brown overpaint on a white-yellowish background. The body is completely red-brown in colour. There is a circumferential, white-yellowish frieze on the neck. It shows two striped bands that are intertwined (guilloche motif). The depiction is interrupted by an anthropo-zoomorphic face bordered by two vertical, superimposed bulges. It has large, disc-shaped eyes and an oval mouth with pointed teeth. The lizard-like creature wears a painted headband and ear jewellery. Symbolic meaning: the guilloche motif is often interpreted (Ferrero 1975: 405) as two serpent's bodies intertwined. However, it can also symbolise textiles or wickerwork. According to Lothrop 1926: Nandaime ware. Cultural significance: the group's inventory of forms exclusively comprises jugs, which often have a spherical body. Their diagnostic decorations indicate a typological relationship with the Mora Policromo, variedad Guabal group (1200-800d.C.). (Künne 2004)
