The stone torso is identified by the double-row hieroglyphic text as a portrait of the wife of the ruler of an unknown place. From the upper end of the torso, probably below the place where the figure's head once stood, an ancestor figure carved in half relief and framed by two zoomorphic heads looks down on the text. Depictions of ancestors looking down and presumably communicating with the world of the living from the sky are a characteristic of the iconography of the early Maya Classic.
