On the one hand, these bells stood on the ancestral altars. Here the ceremonies were "rung in" with them. On the other hand, high-ranking soldiers wore them around their necks as amulets and insignia of rank. This one shows particularly pronounced the square shape of the bells, which refers to the four cardinal directions, the four times of day as well as the 4-day week. Text: Dietmar Neitzke.
