mask

Long, narrow mask carved from a yellowish-brown wood. It was smoothed on the outside after carving and only roughly finished on the inside leaving numerous tool marks clearly visible. The chin is very pointed, the mouth almost crescent-shaped and slightly recessed, but not perforated. The short tongue begins set back at the upper lip. The beak-like nose takes up almost a third of the height of the mask. It is very narrow, with the tip of the nose reaching far below the nose. The bridge of the nose bends slightly at eye level and then merges into the very high forehead. The eyes are very narrow and are the only openings towards the inside of the mask. There are several holes around the edge of the mask, one of which is broken out. The outside of the mask was painted black, the colour is matt and slightly translucent. Lines in white and red were painted symmetrically on the black base colour, and white dots were also painted on one half of the forehead. On the inside of the mask is a sticker with a blue border and jagged edge, which reads "LC 1912 Festland".
