Aryballo, with geometrical design and a small ceramic feline head
The amphora-shaped aryballos, probably the most typical ceramic form of the Inca culture, were used to store and transport liquids. They were very practical, because you could pull a cord through the two eyelets and carry them on your back. The small puma head in the upper middle prevented the cord from slipping. The bottom of the vessel, which opens outwards into a slight tip, prevented it from toppling over when the aryballo was set down. The Inca water pipes were designed in such a way that the water jet was strong enough to fill an aryballo placed in front of it at any time, but not so strong that the aryballo would break.
