Trumpet

This trumpet has been made from the wood of the cecropia tree. The decorative plate has been made from thin wood and is painted with black-brown lines and dots. It has been attached with cotton string and feathers at the corners, however which have on partially survived. During the Paschierá dance, the dancers raise and lower the trumpets in rhythmical synchronisation with the dancing. Theodor Koch-Grünberg documented the use of such trumpets in a festive celebration in the film "From the Life of the Taulipang in Guayana" in 1911.
